iOS 17: Top Features
Apple has released iOS 17, the latest version of its mobile operating system for iPhone. The update includes a number of new features and improvements, including:
- Personalized Contact Posters: You can now create personalized Contact Posters that people see when you call them. You can choose a photo or a Memoji, select a font, a font color, and more. Contact Posters are available for the Phone app and also for third-party apps.
- Live Voicemail: Live Voicemail will let you know why someone is calling you, as your iPhone will show a real-time voicemail transcription.
- Video Voicemail and Reactions on FaceTime: You can now send video voicemails and reactions on FaceTime.
- Check-in feature in Message: The Check-in feature lets family and friends automatically know when you’ve made it home safely. This can also notify people if you’ve hit a hurdle, with information like battery level and the route you’ve taken.
- Live Stickers: You can now create Live Stickers from Live Photos. These stickers can be used in Messages, FaceTime, and other apps.
- StandBy mode: StandBy mode is a new power-saving mode that helps to extend your iPhone’s battery life. When your iPhone is in StandBy mode, it will only check for notifications and updates when you pick it up.
- Share contact card using NameDrop:NameDrop is a new feature that lets you share your contact card with someone by simply bumping your iPhones together.
- A brand new Journal app: The Journal app is a new app that lets you track your thoughts and feelings. You can use the Journal app to write down your thoughts, record your voice, and add photos and drawings.
- Use offline maps: You can now use offline maps in iOS 17. This means that you can still navigate even when you don’t have an internet connection.
- New Mindfulness feature on the Health app: The Health app has a new Mindfulness feature that helps you to track your meditation and breathing exercises.
- Upgraded Autocorrect and Dictation abilities: Autocorrect and Dictation have been upgraded in iOS 17. Autocorrect is now more accurate, and Dictation can now transcribe voice recordings into text more accurately.
- Interactive widgets: Widgets on the Home Screen and the Lock Screen are now interactive, which makes them much more useful. You can check off Reminders, control music playback, activate HomeKit devices, and more, without having to open up an app.
